St. George Marine established 1986
St. George Marine is a family owned business that was started by Pat Dwyer in 1986. Pat met Jenny Gore in 1985, a lifelong and 3rd generation Alaskan, in Ketchikan. They formed their Business in 1986 and were married in January of 1987 in Seattle. They left on a six month herring/salmon tendering charter in March. Traveling up the outside coast of Alaska, they followed the herring fishing fleet from Ketchikan to Nome, spending the summer in Prince William Sound. Throughout the years, they grew a business, and a family, with a few trials and tribulations along the way. Pat and Jenny are the proud parents of Brenna and Sean. The Dwyer family is the proud owner of the F/V Jennifer A, the Brenna A, and the Elinore J.
This blog was started by Jenny, who needed to find a positive outlet as Sean began crabbing for the first time on our fishing vessel, the Jennifer A.
Today, Sean is now Captain of the FV Brenna A, and featured on the Emmy award winning tv show "Deadliest Catch" on Discovery Channel, and married to his wife, Bri.
In 2005, Pat was diagnosed with ALS, aka Lou Gehrig's disease. Pat passed away from his ALS in 2013. Jenny is still very crabby about the disease ALS. This blog which began as a chronicle as Sean went fishing in the Bering Sea and Pat living with ALS, will continue as Jenny writes about life, crab fishing on the Bering Sea, tendering salmon, and continued efforts to raise awareness and funds for ALS Research at ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) and other things on Jenny's mind.
